Here is a quick and dirty little photo recap from the month of December 2024. Notably, most of these are from Rincon, where we spent the first weekend in December attending B’s cousin’s wedding. The weather was awesome and we had a great time.
Last September, I was trying to get some drone footage of the early fall leaves changing. Against my better judgment, I flew it on a low battery and it went into auto return mode (which I was unable to override). I had failed to set the min altitude to a level higher than the trees in the yard and as a result the drone ended up stuck at the very top of one for over 3 months. A windy storm in late November finally dislodged the drone and I found it on the lawn under a couple of inches of snow when we finally returned from PR. I put it in front of the fire that night to thaw and dry out. When I put a battery in it the next morning, it miraculously fired right up. I snapped the photo below (it was 8ish degrees that morning), in which one can see that there is still some fog on one of the internal elements of the camera lens. Pretty amazing, nonetheless.
