Moon Rising Above the Headwaters of the Hudson River
One of the “good” things that came out of the COVID era for me, personally was connecting with some new people while participating in some of the few permitted activities during that era. Riding motorcycles was one such activity. The guys that I met during that time, and subsequently met through those guys have become friends of my whole family. My son looks up to them, and I trust them the same way that I trust my biological brothers. The strength of character and bond that we have created, undoubtedly factor into the reason that I’m allowed by B to just peace out for an entire long weekend into a place with relatively little cell service while doing something that much of society deems extremely dangerous.
A little trip up north (a few photos over here) with my friend Szabi in 2023, turned into an annual event that has evolved and grown a little bit every year. This year we had the same crew as last, plus a new guy who rode with us for top half of the first day. The weather was perfect for the whole trip. It felt weird not to get rained on, for once. I broke in a new bike. We found some new roads. I caught bass. Lukas’ bike was in the shop, so he drove his car, brought a very serious video rig and got some great footage. I spent a lot less energy on photos this year, and focused more on enjoying the riding and experience. I think that we were honestly all on that wavelength. Szabi went swimming in one of the spots we discovered by accident year before last. And we goofed around enough on Saturday that we missed riding to the top of Whiteface, which was kind of a bummer. But, whatever man, we’ll do it again next year. Here are some snaps-
