B is a longstanding member of the NY Public Library system. She rips through like 2-3 books per week sometimes. Occasionally while perusing the library inventory she will pick up a book or two for me as well. Sometimes I get around to reading them, sometimes not. One of such books in the “did read” category recently was Dave Grohl’s “The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music.”Continue reading
We are squarely into the back third of winter. Sunset is now after 5PM. February is here, and it is leap year. Some jams for us to collectively enjoy during the next 29 days of February-
Happy New Year!! Here we find ourselves staring down the barrel of 2024. Geopolitical outcomes of certain matters slated for this year could have far reaching consequences. Anxiety inducing uncertainty abounds. But hey, here are some jams to take your mind off of it! Enjoy–
As much as people say “IDGAF about your stupid Spotify ‘wrapped!'”, I personally fall squarely in the opposite camp. I love to see what people are listening to. I’m oftentimes surprised what I learn about my friends based on what they are listening to. For example, I found out this year that one of my friends was a closet Swifty! When I asked him about it, he was like “yeah I had her on repeat for like a month or so until I realized how mid her music is.” Ooookay, amigo, hehe. No shade on Swifties, or Taylor, for that matter. From what I can tell, she is a pretty decent person and obviously extremely talented. Just not my cup of tea, personally. Anyway, I feel like there must be others out there who enjoy learning what music other people like, as much as I do! Sooooo, these are mathematically the top 100 tracks that I listened to the most on Spotify over the course of 2023. Many of them are on my running playlists. So if it seems a bit skewed toward the EDM end of the spectrum, that’s why. Enjoy! Send me yours, too!
Happy end of year holiday jubilations!
Short + Sweet
For the beginning of marathon season, I’m posting a running playlist that I have been working on all year. I was meant to run the NYC Marathon again this year. A few weeks ago, I began to have some soft tissue problems and have been sort of taking it easy since then, testing the waters with easier runs and several rest days in between each of them. Ultimately, since I’m trying to avoid a relapse of a serious injury (because surgery sucks), I’m bowing out of the marathon and taking a break from running for a few weeks (perhaps months) in an attempt to heal up. I’ve logged a little over 600 miles this year soundtracked by this playlist. I hope that some other runners can enjoy it as much as I have.
